Ruto announces new parastatal board chairpersons

In a gazette notice dated August 15, 2025, Ruto appointed John Antira Ketora as the non-executive chairperson of the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation for a three-year term, effective immediately.
President William Ruto has announced new appointments to the leadership of state corporations, including changes in education, shipping, and investment agencies, in a move aimed at boosting governance in key public institutions.
In a gazette notice dated August 15, 2025, Ruto appointed John Antira Ketora as the non-executive chairperson of the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation for a three-year term, effective immediately.

At the Kenya National Shipping Line, he reappointed retired General Levi Franklin Mghalu as the non-executive chairperson of the board of directors for another three years.
Ruto also appointed Professor James Onyango Owino as the non-executive chairperson of the Commission for University Education (CUE). His appointment begins immediately and will run for three years.
In the Ministry of Trade, Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui named Antony Mwangi to the board of the Kenya Investment Authority, replacing Peter Maina Gachunga, whose appointment was revoked.
He also appointed Joyce Kiprop Cheruiyot as a member of the Special Economic Zones Authority for a three-year term and renewed the appointment of Philip Coulson to continue serving on the same board.
Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe appointed Bernard Mpayakuo Kaparo to the Board of Trustees of the Commodities Fund for three years.
In education, CS Julius Migos Ogamba appointed Aaron Iltele Lesiantam and Racheal Njenga as members of the Board of Trustees of the President’s Award. He further named Awuor Kennedy Otieno to the Board of Directors of the National Biosafety Authority.
At the East African Community docket, CS Beatrice Asukul appointed Margaret Lotukoi Nasilo, Hussein Dida Sora, and Alex Kiratu to the Board of the Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority.
In the health sector, CS Aden Duale appointed Olick Nereah Anyango to the Board of Kenya BioVax Institute Limited for a three-year term.
Gender, Culture and Children Services CS Hannah Cheptumo reappointed Dorcas Obwa and Mohammed Abdi Werer as members of the Kenya National Library Services Board for a two-year term.
Water CS Eric Muuga also made several changes. He appointed Dancun Gituma to the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority while revoking the appointment of Simon Ngugi Mwihaki.
Ngugi, however, was moved to the National Irrigation Authority as a board member for three years.
Muuga further appointed Jane Wambui Mucheru to the Board of Directors of the Athi Water Works Development Agency.
