One dead, two injured as scaffold collapses at Eastleigh construction site
The Authority said preliminary investigations have attributed the scaffold collapse to poor installation, inadequate maintenance, and safety oversights.
One person died and two others were injured after a scaffold collapsed at a construction site in Eastleigh, Nairobi, on Tuesday.
National Construction Authority (NCA) Executive Director Maurice Akech, said approximately 20 workers were on site when the wooden scaffold and timber platform gave way.

He noted that the Authority’s compliance team, in collaboration with the National Police, responded to the incident immediately.
“The site has since been cordoned off, and all construction activities suspended,” he said.
The Authority said preliminary investigations have attributed the scaffold collapse to poor installation, inadequate maintenance, and safety oversights.
“The workers were operating without safety harnesses despite working at significant heights,” Akech said.
He, however, noted that the construction project had secured all requisite approvals, with Francis Mwangi Maunji listed as the developer.
“The consultants involved include architect Weke S. Omondi (A1307), engineer Alkizim Khalid Omar (E459), and quantity surveyor Brian Otieno Oluoch (Q1046). The contractor is Masha Allah Construction Limited,” the Authority said.
It added that investigations are ongoing, and assured the public that “appropriate legal and administrative action will be taken against those found culpable.”
