Among the guests were Starehe Officer in Charge of a Police District (OCPD) Fred Abuga, Kilimani Director of Criminal Investigations Rashid Yakub, and Kamukunji Member of Parliament Yusuf Hassan. Also present were representatives from the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the Eastleigh Business District Association (EBDA).
In his speech, Rashid noted that despite resource constraints, the Eastleigh North Police Station serves a big population.
"We are doing our best though we lack adequate resources such as vehicles and space," he said.
He thanked the business community for its support, saying it has helped bridge some gaps, and urged Eastleigh's residents to seek services from the local police station. He also encouraged community engagement for the sake of collaborative efforts against crime.
Eastleigh Police Station Commander Rebecca Muraya expressed gratitude for the community's understanding during busy periods and stressed the importance of professionalism among police officers.
Yusuf, the chief guest, recounted the transformation of law enforcement infrastructure in Eastleigh since his tenure began, starting with the Eastleigh Police Post in 2012 and the establishment later of the California, Section 3, Airbase, and Eastleigh police stations.
The MP commended police officers for their diligent efforts in keeping the people safe throughout.
"Our police officers are doing a wonderful job in protecting us wherever we are," he said, noting the need to continuously support them.
He pledged to address infrastructure challenges through the provision of facilities such as holding cells for criminals and storage space for weapons, as part of efforts to enhance security.
Officers and guests at the ceremony reflected on progress in community policing and reiterated their commitment to residents' safety. They later went to the Pumwani Boys' High School playground for the Pangani Police Station's end-year party.
