Residents of Mansabubu in Bura East Sub County are appealing for evacuation as their residential houses are submerged in floods from the River Tana. Many houses have been destroyed, and residents have resorted to using canoes to evacuate.

They expressed fear of crocodile and hippo attacks as these animals escape from the flooding river to find safer ground. An elder mentioned, "I have just sighted a big crocodile at my cattle boma, and we fear for our lives as the flooding continues to increase, marooning the village."

The displaced residents are urgently calling on their elected leaders to respond to their plea for intervention. The floods have displaced thousands of families in Garissa township, Balambala, Bura East in Garissa County, and the neighboring Tana River.

In addition to affecting residential areas, the river floods have submerged the Garissa-Nairobi highway, disrupting transportation in Garissa town and Madogo in Tana River.
