Book Life School Uniform is designed to be a one-stop shop for students, teachers, and schools, offering an array of essential school supplies under one roof. The spacious store, located on the ground floor of BBS Mall, specialises in a variety of products including textbooks, school uniforms, stationery, sports equipment, official staff wear, and much more.
The launch event, which was widely attended by students, teachers, and education stakeholders from Kamukunji Sub-county, also drew representatives from the Eastleigh Business District Association, led by CEO Mohamed Adan.
Education County Executive Committee member Brian Mulama, Nairobi County Secretary Head of Operations Geoffrey Akumali, and BBS Mall's CEO Munir Ahmed were also in attendance.
Importance of education resources
During the event, speakers highlighted the critical role that Book Life School Uniform will play in improving access to educational resources for the community. They noted that the availability of a comprehensive school supply store in Eastleigh is likely to solve many of the challenges faced by parents and students who previously struggled to find a centralised place to purchase the materials they need for learning.
Kamukunji MP Yusuf praised the director of Book Life School Uniform, Abdikarim Hassan, for his vision and contribution to the local education sector.
The MP acknowledged Abdikarim's philanthropic efforts and described the new shop as a welcome addition to the business landscape in Eastleigh.
"Education is the greatest equalizer," he said. "It is the tool that uplifts people from poverty. Nelson Mandela once said that the best gift you can give your child is education, and that holds true today. This shop will ensure that parents and students have a reliable source for all their school needs."
Ambassador Jabril echoed similar sentiments, emphasising the significance of the investment in the community. He noted that the shop's name, Book Life, symbolically ties education to life itself.
"When you combine life and books, you've hit the nail on the head. Education is life, and it's what keeps people together," said Ambassador Jabril. "This shop will play an important role in ensuring students have access to the resources they need to succeed."
Employment opportunities
In addition to its educational focus, Book Life School Uniform is also contributing to local employment. The business has already created over 10 jobs for people from Kamukunji and other parts of Nairobi County. The employment opportunities provided by the new shop have been welcomed by the local community, especially at a time when many people are seeking stable jobs.
Abdikarim Hassan, the director of Book Life School Uniform, expressed his enthusiasm about the launch and his desire to support learners in the region. He acknowledged the challenges that parents and students often face in finding affordable and quality educational resources. With the opening of his shop, he hopes to make this process easier and more accessible.
"I have always wanted to provide quality resources to learners and ensure that everything they need is available in one place," Abdikarim said during the launch.
"Our shop is not only large and well-stocked with the necessary learning equipment, but we also have a professional team ready to serve parents and students with the highest level of hospitality."
Headteachers and education stakeholders who attended the event expressed their satisfaction with the new shop. They commended the store's wide selection of products and emphasised that they would encourage their students to visit Book Life School Uniform for all their educational needs.
"We are impressed by how well the shop is equipped," one of the headteachers said. "This will definitely make things easier for students and parents, especially when it comes to getting uniforms and school supplies."
Eastleigh, known for its vibrant business environment, continues to attract investors from across the country. The launch of Book Life School Uniform adds to the area's growing reputation as a business hub.
Eastleigh's dynamic commercial activities have led to the rapid growth of the area, drawing in more businesses that aim to tap into the thriving market.
With its comprehensive range of products and focus on customer service, Book Life School Uniform is poised to become a crucial resource for students, parents, and schools in Eastleigh and beyond.
