Watch Live: High Court decides Gachagua's fate in impeachment case

A critical ruling on Tuesday by a three-judge panel will determine the future of Rigathi Gachagua, the impeached deputy president.

A critical ruling on Tuesday by a three-judge panel will determine the future of Rigathi Gachagua, the impeached deputy president, in his last effort to stay in power and avoid being barred from holding public office for life.

The bench, led by Justice Eric Ogola and including Justices Anthony Mrima and Firda Mugambi, will decide whether to maintain or lift the court orders blocking Gachagua's replacement from taking office.

President William Ruto nominated Interior CS Kithure Kindiki as deputy, which was overwhelmingly confirmed by the National Assembly.

The decision follows an earlier intervention by High Court judges Chacha Mwita and Richard Mwongo, who temporarily halted both Gachagua’s ousting and Kindiki’s assumption of office until the three-judge determine consolidated cases.
