TSC transfers senior officers across as preparations to appoint new CEO start

The transfers are part of ongoing preparations for leadership changes within the TSC and an effort to bring fresh leadership and management across various regions.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has reshuffled its senior officers across the country in preparation for the appointment of a new CEO in July.

While some officers, such as regional, county, and sub-county directors, are retiring, others have received promotions.

Deployment letters for the new appointments are expected to be dispatched this week.

Nancy Macharia, the current CEO of the TSC, is set to retire on June 30, 2025, when her second five-year term ends.

Soon after, the commission will likely advertise the position to start the recruitment process for her successor.

Among the key changes, Joseph Japhat Kariuki, who served as Nakuru County TSC director, has been appointed the new regional director for Nyanza. He replaces  Jane Gatakaa Njage, who has been named the TSC nominee to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission. Kariuki's position as Nakuru County director will be filled by Geofrey Matasero Chemos, formerly the Uasin Gishu County director.

Other notable changes include the transfer of Francis Saina Keter from Busia County to Uasin Gishu County, with Jackson Ong'eto Atuti from Baringo County set to replace him.

Mirriam Jebet Kosgei, previously the deputy county director of Trans Nzoia County, has been promoted to head Baringo County.

Mark Muma Arbelle has also been promoted and appointed the new Isiolo County director, replacing Jayne Wambui Mwaniki who retired.

Nakuru East Sub-County Director Catherine Kamawira Lenairoshi has been promoted to Kirinyaga County TSC Director.

Regina Opondo, the Nandi County director, has been transferred to Meru County to succeed  Mary Salome Ombisi, who moves to Nandi.

Sub-county director transfers include Catherine Nyaguthii Mathenge, who moves from Dagoretti to Nakuru East, and Patrick Mutua, who has been transferred from Kinango in Kwale County to Mvita in Mombasa.

Other transfers involve Ahmed Yussuf Ali from Wajir East to Turkana Sub-County, Mohamed Aden Issack from Matuga to Wajir East, and Gertrude Chao Maganga, the new director of Matuga from Kibwezi.

Vincent Victor Nyonyesa Mamai has been moved from Lunga Lunga in Kwale County to Saboti in Trans Nzoia, while Maurice Abungu George Ochieng has been transferred from Kisumu Central Sub-County to the staffing directorate at TSC's headquarters in Nairobi. Solomon Buyela Wafubwa from Turkana Central Sub-County will take over his position.

The transfers are part of ongoing preparations for leadership changes within the TSC and an effort to bring fresh leadership and management across various regions.
