MoE reshuffles county education directors in latest shake-up
According to ministry sources, the moves are part of ongoing efforts to boost efficiency, address regional performance disparities, and strengthen education service delivery across counties.
The Ministry of Education has reshuffled several County Directors of Education in the first phase of transfers, with more changes among field officers expected in the coming days.
Mohammed Alio, formerly the County Director of Education in Samburu, has been transferred to Makueni in a direct swap with Charles Nyakundi, who now takes over the Samburu office.

In another major change, Embu CDE Kipruto Kosgey has been reassigned to Bungoma, where he will take over from Pius Ngoma. Ngoma, who has been facing administrative scrutiny, has been redeployed to the Rift Valley Regional Director’s office to await new duties.
Elgeyo Marakwet CDE Nancy Mutai has been transferred to Embu to replace Kosgey. However, it was not immediately clear who would take over her former position in Elgeyo Marakwet.
Kakamega has also seen a shake-up, with Hellen Nyang’au being moved to Kisumu. In a reciprocal arrangement, Rosemary Birenge, the outgoing Kisumu CDE, will now take over Nyang’au’s former position in Kakamega.
Meanwhile, in Homa Bay, Eunice Khaemba has been transferred to replace Ann Kiilu. Kiilu was recently promoted to the position of Regional Director and deployed to the Coast region, where she takes over from Luka Chebet, who retired.
The reshuffle marks the beginning of a larger realignment within the Ministry of Education’s field offices.
