The ATP is a compulsory postgraduate course that all law graduates must complete to qualify for admission to the Kenyan Bar.
The programme provides hands-on legal training, covering courtroom procedures, client management, legal drafting, conveyancing, commercial law, probate, and professional ethics.
Training is delivered in two stages: a classroom phase at the KSL campus, followed by six months of pupillage under the guidance of an experienced advocate.
Successful completion of both stages, along with passing final exams, allows graduates to be admitted as advocates of the High Court of Kenya.
KSL also invited applications for the pre-bar examination, scheduled for January 12, 2026. Applicants have until December 12, 2025, to register.
The pre-bar exam serves as a qualifying test for entry into the ATP, particularly for graduates from foreign universities or selected local institutions.
It assesses core legal knowledge, language competence, and professional preparedness, ensuring that candidates meet the required standards for legal practice in Kenya.
