Kenyan Airways (KQ) has issued a notice to passengers, warning of possible flight interruptions lasting about two weeks during the holiday season. The airline disclosed on Friday that several of its airplanes might remain grounded due to challenges in procuring aircraft spare parts. Allan Kilavuka, KQ Group Managing Director and CEO, stated that the global difficulties in the aircraft spare parts supply chain necessitate an extended grounding time for flights as a safety precaution.
Kilavuka explained, "Our current flight schedule may experience disruptions in the coming weeks mainly due to challenges in the aircraft spare parts global supply chain. These challenges are leading to extended ground time of our aircraft for maintenance." He emphasized the commitment to the highest level of safety and reliability of operations, acknowledging the possibility of grounding one or more aircraft.
