Title race, relegation battles headline FKF Premier League action

The FKF Premier League serves up a thrilling matchday with four key fixtures set to shape both ends of the table. League leaders Kenya Police and second-placed Tusker go head-to-head in the biggest clash of the weekend, while Bidco United and Nairobi City Stars battle for survival in a crucial relegation fight. Defending champions Gor Mahia also return to action under new coach Sinisa Mihic, looking to revive their title defence.

Four FKF Premier League matches are set for today, featuring a top-of-the-table showdown and a crucial relegation battle. Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos will host a doubleheader, while Dandora Stadium and Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa will stage the other two fixtures.

Tusker vs Kenya Police - The title showdown

League leaders Kenya Police take on second-placed Tusker in the day's headline clash at Kenyatta Stadium, kicking off at 4:00 PM. Both teams are tied at 37 points, with Police ahead on goal difference. A win for either side would put them clear at the top, while a loss would dent their title ambitions.

Both teams dropped points in their last outings, allowing defending champions Gor Mahia to close the gap to six points with a game in hand. Tusker coach Charles Okere and Police's Etienne Ndayiragije are both eyeing their first FKF Premier League title and will be keen to avoid defeat in this high-stakes match.

Bidco United vs Nairobi City Stars – The relegation fight

Before the title clash, a relegation battle kicks off at 1:00 PM at Kenyatta Stadium as 17th-placed Bidco United host 16th-placed Nairobi City Stars. Both teams are level on 17 points, separated only by goal difference.

Struggling for form, both sides see this match as a chance to turn their season around. Bidco, the league's lowest-scoring team alongside Mathare United, have made changes in attack under coach Antony Akhulia. City Stars, meanwhile, begin life without Mohamed Bajaber, who recently joined league leaders Kenya Police.

Bandari vs Sofapaka – Dockers eye third straight win

Bandari host Sofapaka at Mbaraki Sports Club from 3:00 PM, aiming for their third consecutive victory – a feat they have yet to achieve this season.

After enduring a nine-match winless streak, Ken Odhiambo’s side have bounced back strongly. Sofapaka, in ninth place with 25 points, are desperate to end their own three-match winless run. Bandari sit sixth with 29 points after 19 rounds.

Mathare United vs Gor Mahia – Mihic’s debut test

Defending champions Gor Mahia face Mathare United at Dandora Stadium from 3:00 PM in what marks the debut of new coach Sinisa Mihic.

K’Ogalo, third in the standings with 31 points, are six behind the leaders but have a game in hand. However, their form has been inconsistent, and they will be looking to regain momentum under Mihic.

Mathare, 14th with 21 points, have won just one of their last nine matches. Coach John Kamau criticised his players after their last outing – a draw against FC Talanta – for lacking quality.

Gor Mahia have won four of their last five meetings with Mathare and will be favourites to collect maximum points today.
