Gor Mahia come from behind to win, Nairobi United tighten grip on NSL
Gor Mahia staged a comeback to defeat Mathare United 2-1, while Bandari edged Sofapaka to climb to fourth in the FKF Premier League (FKFPL). Elsewhere, Nairobi United extended their lead in the FKF National Super League (NSL) with a narrow victory over Darajani Gogo.
Gor Mahia came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over Mathare United, while Bandari edged Sofapaka 1-0 to move up to fourth place in the FKF Premier League (FKFPL). Tusker and Kenya Police settled for a goalless draw, while Bidco United and Nairobi City Stars shared the spoils in a 1-1 stalemate.
Mathare United started brightly, taking an early lead through Eli Asieche’s composed finish. The Slum Boys controlled the early exchanges with fluid passing and attacking intent. However, Gor Mahia gradually found their rhythm, and their pressure paid off when Alphonse Omija equalised with a well-taken strike before halftime.

Both sides made attacking changes in the second half, with Mathare introducing two strikers to chase the win. Shariff Musa was a constant threat, troubling Gor’s defence with his movement. However, the decisive moment came when Kapen was brought down in the box, earning Gor a penalty. Enock Morisson stepped up and calmly slotted home, securing all three points for the defending champions.
At Machakos Stadium, Tusker and Kenya Police played out a goalless draw, with neither side able to find a breakthrough. Meanwhile, Alfred Emoni’s lone goal secured a 1-0 win for Bandari over Sofapaka, propelling them to fourth place with 32 points. In Thika, Bidco United and Nairobi City Stars settled for a 1-1 draw. Gilbert Abala gave City Stars the lead in the first half, but Victor Kunyili’s second-half equaliser ensured the points were shared.
Nairobi United extend FKF NSL lead
In the FKF National Super League (NSL), Nairobi United opened a four-point gap at the top after a 1-0 win over Darajani Gogo at Marist International University Grounds. South Sudanese defender Daniel Bichiok struck in the 81st minute, extending United’s winning streak to five matches.
The defeat left Darajani Gogo sixth with 30 points, while Nairobi United now sit on 40 points, ahead of Kibera Black Stars and APS Bomet, who are tied on 36 points. Kibera Black Stars leapfrogged APS Bomet on goal difference after thrashing SamWest Blackboots 4-0. Meanwhile, Fortune Sacco’s promotion hopes took a hit following a 4-2 home loss to Naivas, leaving them fourth with 32 points.
