Kampala Queens keep CECAFA hopes alive with 7-0 victory over Eritrea’s Denden FC

With the win, Kampala Queens move up to second place in Group A on three points, level with leaders Kenya Police Bullets, who still have a game in hand.

Kampala Queens reignited their campaign at the CECAFA Women’s Club Championship with a resounding 7-0 victory over Eritrea’s Denden FC at Nyayo Stadium.

The Ugandan side went into the match under pressure after losing their opener to Kenya Police Bullets.

They started brightly, with Kamiyati Naigaga striking in the 4th minute. Four minutes later, Tourist Lema doubled the lead, before Peace Muduwa made it 3-0 in the 30th minute to give Kampala a commanding advantage at halftime.

The floodgates opened after the break. Muduwa struck again in the 46th minute, followed almost immediately by Lema’s second just a minute later.

Naigaga added her brace in the 55th minute, and Zaituna Namaganda rounded off the scoring in the 77th.

Assistant coach Sharon Kizza applauded her players, saying the emphatic result was crucial for goal difference.

Denden’s coach acknowledged the heavy defeat but expressed pride that Eritrea had a women’s club competing internationally for the first time.

With the win, Kampala Queens move up to second place in Group A on three points, level with leaders Kenya Police Bullets, who still have a game in hand.
