Spain-born Brahim Diaz receives first Morocco call-up

Diaz has featured once for the Spain National team but has now opted to represent Morocco internationally
Real Madrid's Spanish-born midfielder Brahim Diaz was called up by Morocco on Wednesday for friendlies later this month against Angola and Mauritania.
The 24-year-old Diaz is set to switch his international allegiance after representing Spain once in a 2021 friendly against Lithuania when no senior players featured because of a Covid scare.

Spanish sports daily Marca reported Monday that Diaz had decided to represent Morocco as a result of Spain's "wait-and-see-attitude".

Monaco midfielder Eliesse Ben Seghir, 19, was also in the squad list released on Wednesday by the Moroccan football federation. The teenager has represented France up to Under-19 level.
Walid Regragui's side are due to play Angola and Mauritania respectively in Agadir on March 22 and 26.
