In recognition of their outstanding performance, ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo awarded Homa Bay a cash prize of Ksh 400,000 and a trophy.

In a thrilling encounter at Kisumu's Jomo Kenyatta Stadium on Thursday, December 28, 2023, Homa Bay Combined Football Select emerged as the champions of the inaugural 2023 Eliud Owalo Super Cup.

The intense final against Kisumu Combined kept fans on the edge as both teams failed to break the deadlock during normal time.

The ultimate decider was a penalty shootout, adding drama to an already charged atmosphere.

"I'm very pleased with our victory in this tournament. It's exciting to see the wealth of talent that has emerged. Now, as coaches, our task is to ensure that this talent is nurtured and utilized," expressed the elated Homa Bay coach, Mark Nyamache, in an interview with The Nation.

Joseph Akwenda from Homa Bay received the title of Most Valuable Player for consistently showcasing exceptional skills throughout the tournament.

The stakes were high for Homa Bay, as their victory earned them the opportunity to face the 20-time Football Kenya Federation Premier League Champions, Gor Mahia.

In recognition of their outstanding performance, ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo awarded Homa Bay a cash prize of Ksh 400,000 and a trophy.

The runners-up, Kisumu, received Ksh 300,000, while Siaya, securing the third spot by defeating Migori 2-1 in the playoffs, walked away with Ksh 200,000.
