Kenya’s Harambee Starlets wrapped up their Pink Ladies Tournament campaign on a high note, securing an impressive 4-1 victory over the Philippines on Wednesday, October 30, at Emirhan Stadium. The Starlets’ stellar performance was spearheaded by Fasila Adhiambo, whose creative play and assists proved crucial in Kenya’s success.
Elizabeth Mutukiza opened the scoring in the eighth minute, slotting in a goal after a sharp assist from Adhiambo. Mutukiza, a forward for Simba Queens in Tanzania, later forced an own goal from Philippines captain Hali Long, who struggled to clear a powerful cross under pressure.

Purity Alukwe and Adhiambo each added goals to the scoreline, while the Philippines managed a consolation goal through Sarina Bolden.
Kenya's lineup saw two changes from their previous match against Russia, with Lydia Akoth and Purity Alukwe stepping into the starting eleven. The Starlets showcased disciplined play, maintaining steady possession and executing quick passes in the attacking third. Led by captain Ruth Ingosi, who dominated midfield, the Starlets created consistent goal-scoring opportunities. Ingosi’s drive into the penalty area set up Mutukiza’s opener, energizing Kenya’s attack.
The Philippines had a golden opportunity to equalize in the 35th minute, but Bolden’s cross was misfired by Long, sending the ball over the bar. Minutes later, Mutukiza’s swift counter-attack forced Long into an own goal, doubling Kenya’s lead before halftime.
Although Bolden’s penalty in the 67th minute closed the gap, Kenya quickly regained control as Alukwe’s stunning 25-yard strike left goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel stranded, restoring the two-goal advantage. In the closing stages, the Philippines came close to scoring again, but an offside call nullified Bolden’s effort. Two minutes later, Adhiambo sealed the game with a skillful solo goal, weaving past defenders and finishing from a tight angle.
Under head coach Beldine Odemba’s guidance, the Starlets finished the tournament with a well-earned three points, showcasing their abilities on an international stage. The tournament marked a return to international play for Kenya's women's team, offering valuable experience against top-ranked teams like Russia and Chinese Taipei.
