High Court grants ex-Gor Mahia star Gattuso Sh1 million bond in child murder case

Gattuso and his co-accused, Silvia Aoko, are charged with killing a three-year-old girl in April 2024 in Nairobi’s Lucky Summer area.
The High Court has released former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars midfielder Collins Okoth, popularly known as Gattuso, on a Sh1 million bond pending the hearing of a murder case against him.
Gattuso and his co-accused, Silvia Aoko, are charged with killing a three-year-old girl in April 2024 in Nairobi’s Lucky Summer area.

Justice Alexander Muteti ruled that the prosecution had not provided sufficient grounds to deny the footballer bond.
The prosecution had argued that the accused might interfere with witnesses if released on bail or bond. The State further claimed that the two had no fixed abodes, as they previously lived in rental houses, making them a flight risk.
However, Justice Muteti held that these grounds were not strong enough. He noted that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution had failed to present the names of any witnesses who might be at risk of interference.
Barred from Lucky Summer
The court barred Gattuso and Aoko from setting foot in Lucky Summer, where the crime took place, and warned them against contacting witnesses.
“The two accused persons are not to set foot in Lucky Summer or contact any of the witnesses in the murder case,” Justice Muteti ruled.
The judge also directed the accused to provide details of their fixed residences, secure letters from their respective area chiefs, and deposit their passports in court, if they possess any.
No relationship with Gattuso
During a hearing on May 14, 2025, the mother of the deceased minor denied having any relationship with Gattuso.
She testified: “The first accused, Collins Okoth, was my neighbour; we lived in the same plot and on the same second floor, but I did not know him well. We only met sometimes on the stairs and would greet each other.”
She further told the court that her long-time friend, Ms Aoko—the second accused—had confided in her that Okoth was “eyeing her” and had approached her for a romantic relationship.
The witness added that she had never found Okoth in the house she shared with Aoko, nor did he have any interaction or relationship with her late daughter.
The hearing is scheduled to continue on September 23, 2025.
