Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba says her life is danger
Wamuchomba, who was summoned over alleged incitement during President William Ruto’s recent tour of the Mt Kenya region, revealed she had received multiple threats. She believes these are aimed at silencing her and diminishing her political influence.
Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has voiced grave concerns over threats to her life, alleging that mercenaries hired by politicians are behind the intimidation campaign against her.
Speaking to the media after being summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Wamuchomba urged the government to provide her with adequate protection, citing growing fears for her safety as a female leader in an increasingly hostile political climate.

Wamuchomba, who was summoned over alleged incitement during President William Ruto’s recent tour of the Mt Kenya region, revealed she had received multiple threats. She believes these are aimed at silencing her and diminishing her political influence.
Calling for urgent intervention, she highlighted the difficult environment in which she and other women leaders are forced to operate.
“There are mercenaries hired by politicians to intimidate, kill, and abduct. My life is in danger, and as a woman leader in Kiambu County, I must be protected. Should anything happen to me, we will know exactly who is responsible,” she stated.
The MP further disclosed that her security detail had been withdrawn, emphasising that her security now rests solely in the hands of the government.
“The Kenya Kwanza government has no respect for women. If it did, I would have ten bodyguards. I previously had one, but they have taken him away. I have no security detail now,” said the Githunguri MP.
On April 4, Wamuchomba claimed she had been summoned by police in Kiambu to record a statement, which she believes was politically motivated.
“The County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) of Kiambu called and summoned me because the great people of Githunguri refused to be deceived by fake promises and projects that never materialised. You can make arrests, but that won’t change the facts. No more lies! You promised—now deliver,” she posted on social media platform X.
Wamuchomba also rejected suggestions that residents of Githunguri were hostile to the government during President Ruto’s visit, questioning why she was being targeted.
“The President came to Githunguri. No one mocked him, no one heckled him. Why are we being oppressed? Why are they attacking us?” she asked.
