President William Ruto reinstates Charles Nyachae to Kenya School of Government post

Charles Nyachae has been re-appointed as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya School of Government Council, a role he previously held.

President William Ruto has made key appointments to the leadership of three major state institutions, naming Charles Nyachae, Ali Noor Ismail, and Abdi Mude Ibrahim as non-executive chairpersons in a gazette notice dated July 11, 2025.

Charles Nyachae has been re-appointed as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya School of Government Council, a role he previously held.

His reappointment begins on July 13 and was made under Section 6(1)(a) of the Kenya School of Government Act.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the Kenya School of Government Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces re-appoints—Charles Nyachae to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya School of Government Council, for three (3) years, with effect from 13th July, 2025,” the notice read.

Nyachae is a former chair of the defunct Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC), where he served from 2010 to 2015 after the promulgation of the new Constitution.

He was later appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018 as a judge of the East African Court of Justice (EACJ).

He resigned from the regional court on 26th November 2023, a move that was acknowledged by the East African Community in a Communique of the 23rd Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State, which commended him for his service.

Earlier this year, Nyachae was among those shortlisted for the position of chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), a seat left vacant following the exit of Wafula Chebukati.

In the same gazette notice, President Ruto appointed Ali Noor Ismail as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Pest Control Products Board.

His appointment takes effect from July 11, 2025 and was made under Section 5(2)(a) of the Pest Control Products Act.

Ali Noor served in the Jubilee Government as Principal Secretary in the State Department of Cooperative Development and also in the Labour docket.

Meanwhile, Abdi Mude Ibrahim, a former Member of Parliament for Lafey Constituency in Mandera County, has been appointed as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the

Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute. His appointment also begins on July 11 and is for a three-year term.

Abdi Mude was elected on a United Democratic Movement Kenya (UDM Kenya) ticket and served as MP for Lafey during his term in Parliament.
