The Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced the killing of three Al-Shabaab leaders in an airstrike conducted in the Hiran region.

In a statement, the agency said the leaders killed in the operation include Abdullahi Hassan Omar, known by the Khawarij as Amniyad Hirshabelle, a leader whose name was abbreviated as Osaam, who was part of the Finance Department.

The other two are Qudaame Dheere and Abdul Ladhiif.

The agency added that the operation that took place in the Shaw area of the Hiran region was done in collaboration with international partners.

"The forces specifically targeted a centre where these leaders were located, eliminating all these leaders and approximately 10 members of the terrorist militia," the agency said.

The operation is also part of the ongoing objectives of the Federal Government of Somalia, in cooperation with the people and international partners, to eradicate the Khawarij enemy.

Meanwhile, Somalia's Counter Terrorism efforts received a major boost on Wednesday following the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) assurance of continued support towards peace operations in the country.

The assurances were made by the new AFRICOM Commander General Dagvin Anderson during his first visit to the country since assuming command last month.

"Gen Dagvin Anderson, AFRICOM Commander, met Somali, US and African Union's Mission in Somalia's leaders during his first visit since assuming command, reaffirming US commitment to security and regional stability," the command said in a post on X.
