Meanwhile, the Coordination of Resistance Committees in El Fasher, a volunteer group, reported a drone strike by the RSF targeted a busy local market in the city on Tuesday, leaving more than 27 people dead or injured.

At least 15 civilians were killed and 12 others injured on Tuesday in a drone strike launched by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that targeted a local market in the city of El Fasher, western Sudan, according to a medical source and a volunteer group.

"The Saudi Hospital in El Fasher received multiple casualties. Based on our count, 15 people were killed and 12 others were injured," a medical source at the city's main hospital told Xinhua on Wednesday.

The source, who asked to remain anonymous, added, "Most of the injured are in critical condition and require surgical intervention. The situation is dire due to a severe shortage of medical supplies and specialised staff."

Since May 10, 2024, violent clashes have been ongoing in El Fasher between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and their allies on one side, and the RSF on the other, with the fighting intensifying in recent days.

Sudan remains gripped by a conflict between the SAF and the RSF, which erupted in April 2023. The fighting has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions, both internally and across borders, deepening the country's humanitarian crisis.
