Kibra MP Peter Orero's driver fined Sh100,000 for flouting traffic rules in viral video

A driver attached to Kibra Member of Parliament Peter Orero has been fined Sh100,000 by the Milimani Traffic Court after pleading guilty to obstructing other motorists in a viral incident that sparked widespread public outrage.
George Oduor, was captured in a video blocking traffic along a city road while engaging in a heated exchange with journalist Larry Madowo.

The clip circulated widely on social media, drawing condemnation from the public over the misuse of political privilege on public roads.
When arraigned before the trial magistrate court, the driver admitted to the offence and pleaded for leniency, telling the magistrate that he was in a hurry to drop a passenger at the airport.
"I am sorry, Your Honour. I was in a hurry to drop someone at the airport and I will not repeat the offence," he said in mitigation.
In her ruling, the magistrate acknowledged his remorse but noted that the law provides a fine of up to Sh100,000 for the offence of obstruction.
"I have considered your mitigation, but the law provides a fine of Sh100,000. I therefore impose the maximum penalty," the magistrate ruled.
The driver was ordered to pay the fine immediately.
