SHA Board names new senior management team to strengthen healthcare oversight

The SHA Board said the appointments aim to ensure continuity of operations and enhance oversight as the Authority implements its mandate of providing financial risk protection and access to healthcare services for Kenyans.

The Social Health Authority (SHA) Board has appointed 16 Deputy Directors and nine Principal Claims Management Officers as part of efforts to strengthen its senior management team. The appointments follow a recruitment process that began on July 29, 2025.

The newly appointed officials will oversee key operational areas across the Authority. The Deputy Directors are assigned to departments including County Coordination, Legal Services, Finance and Accounts, Funds Management, Claims Management, Benefits Management, Registration and Compliance, Provider Management, Corporate Communications, Information Communication Technology, Administration, Human Resource Management and Development, Supply Chain Management, Internal Audit, and Planning & Linkages.

Among the appointees, Valentine Jepkorir Morogo takes the role of Deputy Director of County Coordination, while Daniel Owino Konyango will oversee Legal Services. Caren Awuor Oduor has been appointed Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts, with Mercy Lustina Angweye leading Funds Management.

Dr Kandie Ng’ochoch will handle Claims Management, and Margaret Nyambura Macharia will manage Benefits Management. Floridah Goki Mbogori will oversee Registration and Compliance, Patrick Maina Mwangi will take Provider Management, and Jacob Muia Mutinda will lead Corporate Communications.

Geoffrey Kones has been appointed Deputy Director of Information Communication Technology, Lewis Muia Masila heads Administration, and Mathew Kimeli Chirchir oversees Human Resource Management and Development. Supply Chain Management will be led by Shafee Yaqub Mohamed, Internal Audit by both Caxton Gambo Njuga and Francisca Mwanza, and Planning & Linkages by Nandwa Mukolwe Erick.

The nine Principal Claims Management Officers appointed to strengthen claims oversight include Dr George Waihenya, Dr George Tende Oduma, Dr Joseph Mboke, Dr Oliver Tony Mito, Dr Yussuf M. Abdi, Dr Scholarstic Murunga Wekesa, Dr Dorcas Kavete Muia, Dr Josephine Kuria Kuria, and Dr Omar Sadik.

The SHA Board said the appointments aim to ensure continuity of operations and enhance oversight as the Authority implements its mandate of providing financial risk protection and access to healthcare services for Kenyans.
