On Thursday, the county government responded by delivering a shipment of supplies, which health officials confirmed would address the two-month drug shortage at the facility.
A statement from the county assembly indicated that the essential medicines were delivered by county health officials and members of the county assembly, led by Speaker Mohamed Roba.
The action followed urgent appeals from Sericho residents during the Bunge Mashinani programme regarding the acute shortage of medical supplies.
"In direct response, the county government mobilised an extensive consignment of essential medicines valued in millions. This supply aims to alleviate the two-month shortage and replenish stock across health facilities," the statement read.
Addressing Sericho residents after handing over the medicines, which were part of a larger consignment to relieve shortages, the Assembly Speaker affirmed the county assembly’s commitment to its oversight role in ensuring reliable and efficient healthcare services for the community.
"Our priority remains to guarantee that every resident can access the healthcare they rightly deserve," he said.
He also encouraged the local community to interact with the newly appointed health personnel at Sericho Health Centre and to cooperate as needed.
Salesio Kiambi, Chairman of the Assembly's Health Committee, urged the new health staff to remain dedicated to serving the community.
"You were brought here to serve; it’s essential that you are always present to provide the necessary healthcare services," he said.
Community representatives expressed their appreciation for the swift intervention, following their appeal during their engagement with members of the county assembly.
