Death toll from Migaa road crash rises to 13

The death toll from the Migaa road crash has risen to 13 after additional bodies were retrieved from the wreckage of the bus at the accident scene, Police Spokesperson Resila Onyango has confirmed.
According to sources, the fatalities include five women, seven men, and an infant.

The tragic accident occurred around 5 am on Tuesday morning involving a Coast Bus and multiple at the Migaa black spot on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
The bus, which was headed to Mombasa from Kisumu City, lost control, ramming into barriers and other vehicles before rolling into a ditch.
Local police, witnesses, and Kenya Red Cross rescue teams reported that the accident involved multiple vehicles, including a saloon car.
According to Jasper Ombati, the Regional Police Commander Rift Valley, 55 other passengers sustained various injuries and are being treated at various hospitals in the area.
The Kenya Red Cross reported 42 casualties have been evacuated to various hospitals in Nakuru County, thanks to a multi-agency response team.
“The Kenya Red Cross is currently providing psychosocial support services to the affected families,” the agency said.
A survivor revealed that before the crash, the bus crew had experienced mechanical problems throughout the journey.
“Passengers were complaining, especially in hilly areas. I heard a bang after the driver shouted that the vehicle had lost its brakes before crashing into a private car,” the survivor recounted.
