Watch: ICT and Digital Economy CS William Kabogo vetting by MPs

Kabogo’s political journey dates back several years, beginning with his education at St. George’s Ruiru Primary School and Thika Technical School, before earning a BCom degree from Punjab University in India.

A panel of MPs, led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, began the vetting of President William Ruto's Cabinet nominees Tuesday. The afternoon session saw ICT and Digital Economy CS nominee William Kabogo face the panel.

Kabogo will be expected to outline his plans to enhance the digital economy and address past allegations that linked him to drug cartels.

His career life

Kabogo’s political journey dates back several years, beginning with his education at St. George’s Ruiru Primary School and Thika Technical School, before earning a BCom degree from Punjab University in India.

His political career includes a range of milestones, such as his initial attempt to secure a KANU ticket in 2002 and his later success as the Member of Parliament for Juja, where he defeated incumbent Stephen Ndichu.

Despite a setback in 2007, Kabogo won the Kiambu gubernatorial seat in 2013 and served until 2017, when he lost re-election after failing to secure the Jubilee Party ticket.

In August 2021, Kabogo launched his political party, Tujibebe Wakenya, which later signed a cooperation agreement with Kenya Kwanza in April 2022.

His nomination to the Cabinet position of ICT and Digital Economy in 2024 marks the latest chapter in his career.
