"We've issued a waiver to all patients unable to leave hospitals due to medical bills and families struggling to pay for their loved ones' release from the funeral home," Governor Sakaja announced on his Facebook page, expressing appreciation for the improved service delivery in city healthcare facilities.

This initiative arrives at a crucial moment. Nairobi Funeral Home, previously known as City Mortuary, has grappled with a growing number of unclaimed bodies. In September, plans were announced to dispose of 193 unclaimed bodies as families failed to claim them due to financial constraints or other challenges.

The meeting included Board Chairs and CEOs of key Nairobi hospitals, such as Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital and Mbagathi Hospital, showcasing the governor's focus on healthcare initiatives. He also commended the leadership of these hospitals for their efforts in improving service delivery, highlighting the positive strides being made in Nairobi's healthcare system.
