Mandera taekwondo team wins national championship title

Mandera County Taekwondo team clinched the National Championship title by defeating the Kwale County team in a thrilling final match held at Kwale County.
The team had earlier secured their spot in the National Taekwondo competition after overpowering teams from Wajir and Garissa counties at the regional level.
Coach Mohamed Sheikh Ali, in an interview with The Eastleigh Voice, disclosed that five members of the team had been selected to represent Kenya in the forthcoming international Taekwondo competition scheduled to take place in Rwanda, with the exact date yet to be communicated by the organizers.
"We faced various teams representing different counties, and emerging as the champions was truly satisfying," Coach Ali stated confidently.
He expressed confidence in the team's ability to perform well internationally, pointing out their impressive skills demonstrated in both regional and national competitions. Additionally, he noted that the team will be intensively trained to prepare for the upcoming international event.

Team captain Hillow Ibrahim Dahir expressed joy over their victory, stating, "We are thrilled to have emerged victorious in the National competition, and we are fully geared up to triumph in the international arena."
Dahir attributed their success to the unwavering commitment of their team manager, who provided them with the necessary skills to secure victory at the national level.
Abubakar Maalim, the Acting Director of Sports in Garissa County, who accompanied the team to the National Championship, commended their achievement and assured them of the county government's unwavering support in nurturing their talents as part of the ongoing efforts to foster youth development.
