Autopsy report shows Kilifi girl was stabbed by boyfriend leading to her death

The suspect was arrested on Sunday and arraigned in court, where police requested 10 days to complete investigations before pressing charges. He is expected to take a plea on Monday.
An autopsy report on the body of a 17-year-old girl from Kilifi, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, has revealed that she died from stab wounds to the left cheek and throat, consistent with sharp force trauma and assault.
Farida Kadzo Changawa was killed last Friday evening in Madina, Kijipwa, Kilifi County, in the latest case of femicide in the country. The report also revealed that she sustained severe injuries to her hands.

"External head examination: deep laceration at the anterior neck region penetrating the anterior neck structures; lacerated thyroid bone, trachea," reads the report filed by Dr Gideon Odhiambo in part.
At the family’s request, the body was not dissected, and no internal samples were obtained for further testing.
However, other forensic evidence, including fingernail clippings, was collected and handed over to the police to aid investigations.
Condemning the minor’s killing on Wednesday, Aggrey Juma, Senior Manager at the International Justice Mission (IJM), described her death as a painful reminder of the persistent and deadly threat of violence against women and children (VAWC) in Kenya, particularly in vulnerable communities.
"This case is not about a 'love triangle', as some early media reports have suggested. It is about power, control, and the systemic failure to protect survivors of violence. Her story reflects the harsh reality that many girls and women face, where poverty, gender inequality, and weak enforcement of laws create a deadly environment for survivors," he said.
The victim was reportedly stabbed after refusing to accompany her boyfriend to a family event. She succumbed to her injuries shortly after returning home.
The matter was immediately reported to the police, and investigations are ongoing.
The suspect was arrested on Sunday and arraigned in court, where police requested 10 days to complete investigations before pressing charges. He is expected to take a plea on Monday.
It was confirmed that the minor had previously survived a defilement case and was receiving support through the justice system.
"IJM also calls on the public to stand in solidarity with survivors and demand accountability and systemic change. Her life mattered. Her story must not end in silence. Let this tragedy be a turning point in the fight against femicide and all forms of violence against women and children," Juma added.
