KUCCPS reopens TVET applications for September intake, cuts fees to widen access

The placement body has invited Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders from the years 2000 to 2024 to apply.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened applications for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses, targeting the September 2025 intake.

This move is aimed at expanding access to skills development by making applications more affordable and inclusive for a wider range of candidates across the country.

In a statement on Saturday, KUCCPS announced the application window will be open from August 8 to August 22, 2025. During this period, eligible applicants can apply for placement in various diploma, craft certificate, and artisan certificate courses offered by accredited institutions.

To encourage more students to enrol, KUCCPS has reduced the application fee from Sh1,500 to Sh500. The announcement clearly stated, "KUCCPS has reopened TVET placement applications for the September 2025 intake, from 8th to 22nd August 2025. Application fee slashed from Sh1,500 to Sh500 to boost access!"

The placement body has invited Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders from the years 2000 to 2024 to apply.

The minimum academic requirements vary by course level: Diploma (Level 6) programmes require at least a C-minus grade, Craft Certificate (Level 5) courses need a plain D or above, and Artisan Certificate (Level 4) programmes accept a minimum grade of E.

Detailed application procedures are available on the KUCCPS website at www.kuccps.ac.ke. Applicants seeking help can visit any TVET institution or Huduma Centre nationwide. Additional support can be accessed through phone numbers 020 5137400 and 0723 954 927 or by emailing [email protected].

This announcement aligns with government efforts to strengthen Kenya’s technical training sector and ensure that skills development meets the demands of industry.

KUCCPS, a government agency established under the Universities Act, is responsible for coordinating the placement of government-sponsored students into universities, colleges, and TVET institutions.

Beyond placements, KUCCPS develops career guidance programmes, provides information on course options, and strives to ensure fair and equal access to higher education. The agency oversees application processes, sets entry requirements, and assigns students based on merit, preferences, and available spaces.

Those admitted will begin their studies in September at approved TVET institutions, gaining practical skills across diverse fields designed to prepare them for the job market.
