Raila Odinga says he’ll announce next political move guided by interests of all Kenyans
Siaya Governor James Orengo dismissed suggestions that ODM should join other opposition parties, insisting that it remains a dominant force.
ODM leader Raila Odinga has assured his supporters that he will next week announce a decision that will be guided by the interests of all Kenyans.
Speaking on Friday during the party's 20th-anniversary celebrations in Busia, Odinga reiterated that he is still engaging in consultations before making his next political move public.

His remarks have fuelled speculation about his political direction, with some allies concerned that he might align with the government.
"I will continue consulting to ensure that we take a course of action that prioritises the needs and rights of Kenyans. We are not here to joke," Odinga said.
The anniversary event brought together top ODM leaders, including interim party leader Anyang' Nyong'o, deputy party leaders Simba Arati and Abdulswamad Nassir, Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna and Chairperson Gladys Wanga.
Party members reaffirmed their loyalty to Odinga, pledging to support whatever decision he made.
"Baba, we do not doubt your decisions. Whatever direction you will [show] us, that is where the party will go," Sifuna said.
Siaya Governor James Orengo dismissed suggestions that ODM should join other opposition parties, insisting that it remains a dominant force.
"ODM is a big party. It cannot be swallowed; it is the one to swallow other parties," he said.
Arati, the Kisii governor, emphasised that ODM remains focused on the 2027 elections, asserting that it is the party poised to take over leadership.
National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed expressed confidence in Odinga's ability to guide the party's next steps.
Odinga assured his supporters that his decision would serve the interests of all Kenyans.
Having completed consultations in several counties, the ODM leader returned to Nairobi for further discussions, with an announcement expected next week.
