In a swift operation, police in Isiolo have killed two armed suspects involved in the theft of livestock and successfully recovered 30 stolen cattle.

The incident took place in the Leparua area of Burat Ward, where the stolen animals were located after a coordinated response from security teams.

Isiolo County Commissioner Geoffrey Omoding confirmed the operation’s success and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining livestock and apprehend the culprits.

“We are determined to recover all the stolen cattle and ensure the perpetrators face justice,” he said.

Commissioner Omoding also took the opportunity to criticise local chiefs and their deputies for their failure to cooperate with reserve officers.

He emphasised that this lack of collaboration is hindering efforts to address the increasing livestock theft in the region.

“We need more cooperation from local leadership if we are to effectively tackle these crimes,” Omoding said.

In a move to bolster security, the commissioner revealed plans to deploy drones in Isiolo County later this year. The drones are expected to enhance surveillance and assist in the fight against crime.

“This is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen security measures in the region and protect the livelihoods of our people,” Omoding added.

He reiterated that the successful operation underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to maintaining law and order in Isiolo County.
