"The distribution of seeds, manure and insecticides commences in Matanya, extending to all sub-counties from tomorrow,” Governor Godhana said, encouraging farmers to diligently cultivate their fields to ensure the abundant supply of food for the county and the country.
“Let us unite in supporting our farmers and fostering a flourishing agricultural community,” he said, adding the initiative signifes Tana River's dedication to agricultural growth and prosperity.
Tana River is among 11 counties in the alarm phase of the drought, the others being Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kitui, Mandera, Marsabit, Laikipia, Samburu, Turkana and Wajir.
About 92,000 people in the county faced severe food shortages in 2022, according to the National Drought Management Authority.
