Brace for wet days ahead, weatherman warns Kenyans
Residents in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, and Meru, should also anticipate occasional morning rains, with a chance of afternoon and night showers spreading to several areas in the first half of the forecast period.
Kenyans should prepare for continued rainfall in several parts of the country between January 28 and February 3, 2025, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD).
However, other regions will experience sunny and dry conditions as temperatures rise above 30°C.

The Met Department highlighted that the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the South-eastern regions will receive morning rains, afternoon and night showers, and thunderstorms.
The affected counties include Kakamega, Nandi, Vihiga, Bungoma, Baringo, Nakuru, Kericho, Kisii, Nyamira, Kisumu, and Migori, among others.
Meanwhile, the Coast, North-eastern, and Northwestern Kenya including Marsabit, Mandera, Turkana, and Samburu counties are expected to remain mostly sunny and dry during the day, with partly cloudy nights.

Night-time temperatures are forecasted to drop below 10°C in some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the North and Central Rift Valley.
Looking at a broader outlook, the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) has warned of drier-than-usual conditions and above-average temperatures in many parts of Kenya between January and March 2025.
The ongoing weather changes are attributed to a weak La Niña event.
"The outlook indicates that a majority of Kenya will experience drier-than-usual conditions," stated ICPAC in its three-month report.
The Met Department affirmed this, noting that sunny and dry weather conditions will dominate most of the country during the first quarter of the year.
Residents in affected areas are urged to prepare accordingly for both wet and dry conditions in the coming weeks.
