AFC Leopards edge Shabana as Homeboyz tighten grip on top spot in FKF Premier League action

The result also keeps Leopards unbeaten in the league alongside defending champions Kenya Police FC.

The FKF Premier League lived up to its reputation for drama and intensity, serving up a mix of wins, setbacks, and even a bit of history this time written by AFC Leopards, who claimed a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Shabana FC at Gusii Stadium.

The Tore Bobe faithful came into the match desperate to restore their home dominance after two consecutive losses in Kisii. They looked on course for redemption when Austin Odongo put Shabana ahead in the first half. However, a resurgent AFC Leopards side, buoyed by their first win of the season against KCB, refused to be subdued.

Victor Omune brought Ingwe level in the 72nd minute after being picked out by Julius Masaba, sparking renewed confidence in the visitors. Constant pressure from Leopards forced Shabana into errors, and a James Kinyajui corner led to an own goal that sealed a second successive 2–1 win for AFC.

Significantly, this was AFC Leopards’ first-ever league victory over Shabana since the Kisii-based club’s return to the top flight. The result also keeps Leopards unbeaten in the league alongside defending champions Kenya Police FC.

At Green Stadium in Kericho, APS Bomet hosted league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz, hoping to build on their first win of the season against Kariobangi Sharks. However, the *Abana Beingo* continued their impressive form with a 2–1 victory to cement their position at the top of the table with 13 points.

John Omondi opened the scoring for Homeboyz in the 6th minute, but APS captain James Khalela equalised six minutes later to end the first half level. Just four minutes after the restart, Boniface Onyango restored the visitors’ lead with a goal that ultimately earned Homeboyz their fourth win of the campaign.

APS Bomet, meanwhile, have managed only one win from five matches, losing four, three of them consecutively and remains in the lower half of the table.

In Murang’a, Tusker FC made it back-to-back victories after a 2–1 triumph over Kariobangi Sharks. Dennis Oguta broke the deadlock for the Brewers in first-half added time before captain Eric Kapaito doubled the lead in the 59th minute. Sharks forward Faiz Opande pulled one back, but it was too late to salvage a point.

Tusker’s steady rise under coach Charles Okere continues, while Sharks’ struggles deepen under William Muluya, with the side now suffering their second straight defeat and third loss of the season.

At the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Bidco United continued their fine run with a 2–1 victory over Ulinzi Stars. Collins Akite and Victor Kunyili scored in quick succession in the 57th and 60th minutes, while Boniface Muchiri converted a penalty late on for Ulinzi.

The result lifted Bidco to second place on the table with three wins from five matches, while Ulinzi slumped to their third consecutive defeat despite recently parting ways with head coach Dunstan Nyaudo.
