Former President Uhuru Kenyatta's son, John Jomo Kenyatta, has withdrawn the case he filed against the government regarding the revocation of his firearm licence.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta's son, John Jomo Kenyatta, has withdrawn the case he filed against the government regarding the revocation of his firearm licence.

Jomo initiated the legal action on July 26, 2023, seeking a court order to prevent the Firearm Licensing Board and the Attorney General from withdrawing his license without following the due process outlined in the Firearms Act.

In an agreement presented to High Court Judge Jairus Ngaah, Jomo's lawyer, Fred Ngatia confirmed that the matter had been settled. Both parties agreed to comply with the procedures specified in the Firearms Act.

Justice Ngaah stated, "By consent, this matter is marked as settled... The first and second respondents do not intend to withdraw and or interfere with the applicant's firearm license(s). The first and second respondents shall abide by the procedure set out in the Firearms Act in dealing with the applicant."

In July 21, 2023, former President Uhuru Kenyatta had reported that Jomo's residence was raided by individuals claiming to be police officers. The officers conducted a search to determine if Jomo possessed any weapons, including firearms. Kenyatta confirmed that his sons legally owned six registered guns in total, and he emphasized that their firearm ownership was legitimate.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki later confirmed raids in Karen, searching for firearms allegedly used in illegal operations during anti-government protests.
