The magistrate released them on a Sh400,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh200,000 each.

Two men have been charged before a Nairobi Court with stealing automated blood collection kits and ordinary blood bags from Kenyatta National Hospital, valued at Sh1.1 million.

Henry Theuri and Erick Otieno Omedo are accused of stealing four cartons (24 pieces) of automated blood collection kits and one carton of ordinary blood bags, all valued at Sh1,125,870, the property of the Nairobi Region Blood Transfusion Centre.

According to the charge sheet, the accused persons allegedly committed the offence on July 29, 2025, at Kenyatta National Hospital.

Erick Otieno Omedo was separately charged with handling suspected stolen goods.

The court heard that on July 29, 2025, at the Nairobi region blood transfusion centre at Kenyatta National Hospital, the suspect dishonestly retained 24 pieces of automated blood collection kits and one carton of ordinary blood bags.

Appearing before Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi, they denied the charges and pleaded for lenient bond terms.

The magistrate released them on a Sh400,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh200,000 each.

The case will be mentioned after two weeks.
