Judicial Service Commission warns of scammers promising jobs

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has warned Kenyans of fraudsters masquerading as representatives of the Commission promising employment opportunities.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Commission said the scammers pose as employees or members of the Commission and ask for payments through calls or text messages.

“It has come to our notice that some unscrupulous persons are passing themselves off as representing or being affiliated with the Judicial Service Commission. They have been posing as employees or members of our leadership with the intent to defraud unsuspecting members of the public,” read the statement.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to integrity, emphasising that it does not solicit for nor accept money from anyone seeking a job.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Judicial Service Commission is an equal opportunity employer and selects candidates based on merit through a fair, transparent and competitive process from the widest range of eligible candidates,” reads the statement.

Persons interested in vacant positions have been advised against any form of canvassing, noting that it will lead to automatic disqualification.

Members of the public have been encouraged to follow and regularly visit the Commission’s official platforms for any formal communication.

Recently, the Commission shortlisted a total of seven candidates for the position of Chief Registrar of the Judiciary.

JSC chairperson and Chief Justice Martha Koome said the seven were shortlisted from a total of 43 applications.

The seven included Macharia Rose Wachuka, Ouma Jack Busalile Mwimali, Mokaya Frida Boyani, Wambeti Anne Ireri, Ndemo Paul Maina, Kendagor Caroline Jepyegen and Kandet Kennedy Lenkamai.

The interviews will be conducted by the Commission on March 18, 2024, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Judicial Service Commission Boardroom, CBK Pension Towers, 13th Floor, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.

The Commission invited members of the public to avail in writing, any information of interest concerning any of the shortlisted candidates.

“Please note that the Commission may interview any member of the public who has submitted information on any of the shortlisted candidates and such information shall be kept confidential,” read the notice.
