Kenya to experience rains, thunderstorms, strong winds this week

At the coast, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu and coastal parts of Tana River, days will be sunny and nights partly cloudy, with occasional light showers.
Parts of Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Meru and other areas east of the Rift Valley are set for afternoon rains and chilly nights over the coming five days, the Kenya Meteorological Department has warned.
The forecast, covering Friday, September 26 to Tuesday, September 30, 2025, shows varying weather patterns across the country.

According to Kenya Met, the highlands west of the Rift Valley, north-western Kenya and sections of the Rift Valley will also receive rainfall during this period.
In the eastern highlands, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Murang’a and Meru, mornings will start off cloudy before breaking into sunny intervals, with light showers likely in the afternoons.
Daytime temperatures in these regions are expected to reach around 29°C, while night temperatures may drop to as low as 5°C.
In Kericho, Bungoma, Nakuru, Kakamega, Kisumu and Bomet, residents should prepare for showers in the morning followed by thunderstorms in the afternoons throughout the week.
Temperatures in these areas will range between 32°C during the day and 8°C at night.
In Turkana and Samburu, morning showers will be followed by sunny afternoons. These counties will experience hot conditions, with daytime highs of 36°C and nighttime temperatures between 7°C and 8°C.
Northern counties including Marsabit, Mandera, Garissa and Wajir are expected to remain hot and dry, with daytime temperatures averaging 37°C and night lows between 14°C and 16°C.
The South Eastern lowlands, covering Machakos, Kajiado, Makueni, Kitui and Taita Taveta, will have mostly sunny conditions during the day and partly cloudy nights. Daytime temperatures will remain warm, ranging from 30°C to 32°C.

Temperatures will range from 30°C to 32°C in the day and 21°C to 23°C at night.
The department also cautioned that strong winds of around 46 km/h could affect the coast, south-eastern lowlands, north-eastern and north-western parts of the country.
