Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve’s body arrives in Kenya from Haiti

Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve died in a road accident on 1 September while serving with the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) in Haiti.

The body of the late Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve has arrived in Kenya.

The gallant officer died in a road accident on September 1 while serving with the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) in Haiti.

Nzuve's body was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by the Commandant of the National Police College Embakasi ‘A’ Campus, Isaac Alimaa, family members, and senior officials, before being taken to Chiromo Mortuary for preservation.

Police spokesperson Muchiri Nyagah said burial arrangements will be announced later.

“The National Police Service conveys its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the fallen officer and assures them of its full support during this difficult time,” he said.

Kenya leads the MSSM mission in Haiti, whose mandate ends soon.

Officers in the mission have recorded successes but face challenges, including inadequate force, equipment and funding to tackle Haiti's gangs.

A plan to transform the mission into a Gang Suppression Force is under consideration ahead of its mandate expiry on October 2.
