The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Wednesday carried out a series of coordinated raids targeting Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo and several senior county officials over alleged misuse of Sh382 million meant for a county construction project.
The operation, conducted simultaneously in Nyamira, Kisii, and Nairobi counties, covered both official and private residences of the governor as well as offices and homes of top county officers.

EACC confirmed that the searches were part of a broader effort to retrieve financial records, digital data, and other materials critical to establishing accountability in the use of public funds.
The agency emphasised that the searches form a normal part of its investigative process aimed at determining whether any laws were violated.
It is believed that the operation sought to secure original payment records, approvals, and correspondence linked to the Sh382 million project.
The recovered evidence will be analysed alongside progress reports from the construction site to verify the accuracy of expenditure claims.
The Commission reiterated that the investigation aligns with its ongoing mandate to enforce integrity and transparency in county operations, especially in major infrastructure and construction contracts funded by public money.
