State House defends President Ruto's re-launch of stalled projects

Hussein emphasised that the President's commitment to completing these projects demonstrates his responsibility to the Kenyan people.

State House has responded to recent criticism regarding President William Ruto's activities of re-launching several road construction projects. The response comes after some Kenyans took to social media, accusing the government of repeatedly launching the same projects.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed defended the President's actions, stating that they are in line with his commitment to completing projects that had stalled before he took office.

According to Hussein, President Ruto's visits to different regions are part of his duties as Head of State. These duties involve overseeing taxpayer-funded projects, initiating new developments, and reviving unfinished ones.

Hussein emphasised that the President's commitment to completing these projects demonstrates his responsibility to the Kenyan people.

In a post on X, he noted that this dedication was a key component of the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, which played a significant role in President Ruto's election.

"It's a mark of responsibility for a President to ensure that all feasible projects, including those that stalled before his election, are completed,'' he said.

Through his development tours, President Ruto seeks to continue implementing the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. This agenda includes initiating new projects, monitoring ongoing ones, and ensuring the completion of those that had stalled, all to benefit Kenyan citizens.

The President's recent activities have sparked discussions, particularly after his re-launch of the Kanyuambora Irrigation Project in Embu County. This project had initially been started in March 2021 but had stalled due to contractor issues. The current government re-procured the project, and President Ruto's re-launch was part of his efforts to ensure its completion.

During a recent visit to the Kisii region, President Ruto commissioned several projects. Among these was the construction of a cancer hospital in Kisii Town, a project originally launched by former President Kenyatta in 2019.

In Nyamira County, the President also launched the upgrade and maintenance of Eronge Road, another project that had been initiated under Kenyatta's administration.

Hussein clarified that President Ruto is not simply re-launching projects from the previous Jubilee administration. Instead, he is working to revive those that were left unfinished, ensuring their completion. Hussein stressed that the President has a responsibility to ensure the continuation and completion of all government projects.

He said that the re-launch of the Kanyuambora Irrigation Project in Embu County is an example of President Ruto's efforts to fulfil his campaign promises.

According to Hussein, these activities align with the President's broader goal of driving economic development and improving the lives of Kenyan citizens. The President's commitment to finishing stalled projects is seen as a continuation of his election promise to address the needs of the people through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

" This commitment is part of the pledges President William Ruto made in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, the very document that got him elected," said Hussein.
