The Chinese Embassy in Nairobi has updated its requirements for Kenyans applying for short-term visas to China.

Under the new revision, individuals visiting China for periods not exceeding 6 months will no longer need to provide fingerprints during the application process.

Both single and multiple-entry visa applicants to China will be exempt from providing fingerprints until December 2025, as announced by the Chinese embassy.

"From September 2, 2024, to December 31, 2025, the Embassy of China in Kenya exempts all applicants who apply for single or double-entry short-term visas (stay in China for no more than 180 days) from fingerprint collection," the Embassy said in a notice on Monday.

There are various types of China Visas for Kenyans.

A Tourist Visa (L-Visa) is a non-immigrant visa option for those visiting China for tourism purposes, such as sightseeing, visiting friends and family, or participating in cultural exchanges.

Visa applicants can either apply for a single-entry visa or a double-entry tourist visa.

There is also a Business Visa (M-Visa), which Kenyan citizens can apply for Chinese business visas for business purposes, such as attending conferences, conducting negotiations, or participating in trade fairs.

This one is valid for a single entry within 30 days.

The Work Visa (Z-Visa) is when one is entering China for employment purposes, such as working as a teacher, researcher, or company executive, you'll need to apply for a work visa.

This one is also a single-entry visa that comes with 90 days.
