Firefighters battle fire at Isiolo Girls after two buildings went up in flames

One of the dormitories and a laboratory at Isiolo Girls High School reportedly caught fire on Saturday evening.

The Red Cross team is also on-site. "A fire incident has been reported at Isiolo Girls High School. Response team activated," the organisation said in a statement.

Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo expressed his concern over the incident, stating that his administration was mobilising all necessary emergency responders to handle the situation.
"I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate fire incident at Isiolo Girls tonight. My government is working tirelessly to mobilise all necessary emergency responders to the scene, even as I urge the security team to establish the cause," the Governor said.
He also urged the public to exercise caution and cooperate with the emergency teams. "My thoughts and prayers are with the students, staff, and parents," he added.
The cause of the raging inferno is yet to be established.
The county’s fire engine broke down at the site as it attempted to put out the fire. However, the Isiolo Airport fire engine and that of the Kenya Defence Forces made their way to the school to assist in the emergency response.
The fire was contained at around 9:30 pm.
The fire incident was reported barely two days after an inferno ripped through a dormitory at Hillside Endarasha Academy. So far, 21 children have died.
