SRC calls for applications to fill chairperson position as Mengich's tenure ends

The Salaries and Remunerations Commission (SRC) selection panel has invited applications from qualified persons for the appointment of its new chairperson.

In a notice on Monday, the SRC selection panel detailed the qualifications and process for the position.
To be considered, applicants must possess a degree from a recognised Kenyan university and have at least 10 years of experience in public management, finance, administration, economics, human resource management, or labour law.
Additionally, candidates should be familiar with labour market trends in both the private and public sectors and demonstrate an understanding of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
The panel also highlighted the need for candidates with distinguished careers.
Responsibilities
The appointed chairperson will lead the SRC in fulfilling its constitutional duties, including setting public sector salaries as outlined in Articles 230(4) and 239 of the Constitution.
Responsibilities will include chairing commission meetings, developing policies, providing strategic direction, and fostering connections with stakeholders and government entities.
The panel also specified that certain individuals are ineligible to apply.
"Applicants cannot be Members of Parliament or County Assembly, affiliated with any political party, bankrupt, or previously removed from office for legal violations," read the notice.
Applicants are required to submit a comprehensive CV not exceeding six pages, along with copies of academic and professional certificates, a national ID or passport, and clearance certificates from various bodies including the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), Commission for University Education (CUE), and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The selection panel said all submissions must be clearly marked as "Application for the position of chairperson, Salaries and Remuneration Commission."
Interested candidates can either deliver their applications in person to the Ministry of Public Service at Harambee House or submit them via email to [email protected] by the deadline of 5 p.m. on September 23, 2024.
After the application period closes, the names of applicants, shortlisted candidates, and interview schedules will be published in the Kenya Gazette.
