Similarly, Koome said the Isiolo Magistrates Court resolved 1,255 cases, compared to 1,216 filed, achieving a CCR of 103 per cent.
The Isiolo Kadhis Court also performed well, closing 256 cases against 246 filed, with a CCR of 104 per cent.
In a meeting with judicial officers and staff from Isiolo Law Court, the CJ commended the courts for their efforts in improving service delivery and reducing case backlogs, aligning with the Judiciary’s Strategic Plan, Sustaining Judiciary Transformation (STAJ).
She highlighted the court’s commitment to excellence and prioritising a people-centred approach to ensure timely justice.
"I commended them for their commitment to court excellence and people-centred service delivery, which are key principles of our institutional blueprint, STAJ," she said.
During the meeting, Koome also rooted for a deepened partnership between the Judiciary and County Governments in a bid to enhance access to justice.
“The Judiciary is keen on collaborating with County governments as partners in a quest to increase the Judiciary’s footprint. I urge us to work together, particularly in the area of getting land to be allocated and developing physical infrastructure to house courts in constituencies that do not have court stations,” the CJ said.
She noted that while the Judiciary had cut distances to court in many parts of the country, a number of counties remain underserved.
“The distance from Isiolo to Merti is approximately 200km. There is a need to bring courts closer to the people. We serve one people and we ought to partner to enable our people to get public services including judicial services," she said.
Isiolo County Governor Abdi Ibrahim committed to allocating the Judiciary the required land in Merti and Garbatulla.
The governor urged the community to make good use of the multiple doorways of justice- Alternative Justice System and the Court Annexed Mediation – launched during the event to access justice.
“The wazee (elders) who conduct AJS are not only found in Isiolo. They are found within our communities and can help our people access justice wherever they are,” Abdi said.
