Two passengers killed, 18 others injured in Kwale bus crash

Two passengers died and several others were injured when a Mash Poa bus collided with a truck on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway in Taru, Kwale County on Sunday morning.
Law enforcement officials stated that the truck driver deviated from his lane while heading towards Nairobi, resulting in the accident.

Confirming the incident, Samburu Sub-County Police Commander Lydia Mambo disclosed that one person died on the spot, while another passed away during treatment at Samburu Sub-County Hospital, where they were taken for medical attention.
"The injured passengers were taken to Samburu Sub-County Hospital for urgent treatment," she affirmed.
According to the police, 18 people were seriously injured and are receiving treatment at the hospital.
The bodies of the two passengers were taken to the Kinango Sub County Hospital Mortuary.
The crash caused a significant traffic jam on the busy highway, requiring the joint efforts of the police and emergency response teams to clear the scene.
"While the road is gradually reopening, our primary focus remained on ensuring all passengers received necessary hospital care," Mambo said.
The National Police Service appealed to motorists to adhere to traffic regulations this festive season to prevent road crashes.
