Kindiki also said that job opportunities requiring no skills should be allocated to local residents.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki now says that County Commissioners must guarantee the timely execution of development projects within their regions.

Speaking in Gathara, Kinangop on Monday, the CS also stated that the county commissioners must also ensure the citizens get value for their money.

"The County Commissioners across the country must ensure that all development projects in their areas are completed within the stipulated time so that our people can get value for their money," Kindiki stated.

The Interior boss pointed out that the President has secured funding for various road projects and stressed the need for contractors to be present on site.

Kindiki also said that job opportunities requiring no skills should be allocated to local residents.

He asserted that semi-skilled locals should also benefit from these projects.

"The President has directed that contractors must ensure that local works that require unskilled and semi-skilled workers are reserved for youths residing around here," Kindiki said.

"This hard work you are seeing here is because your leaders have been asking the President for development," Kindiki added, as he announced the resumption of construction on the 40.5-kilometre Engineer-Mbiginano-Gathara-Tulaga-Mbirithi-Chuma Road Project.

He was joined by Roads and Transport CS Davis Chirchir, Principal Secretary for Roads Joseph Mbugua, Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku, and other elected leaders.

"No interruption"

CS Chirchir assured the public that the project would proceed without interruption due to pending bills.

"We have financed 24 per cent of this road through the China Development Fund; the balance of 80 per cent ensures there is no reason for construction to stop. The County Commissioner will supervise very closely," he stated.

Chirchir revealed that the total cost for all roads earmarked for construction in Nyandarua County amounts to Sh15.8 billion.

Going further, the Interior CS noted that the government is prioritizing the completion of stalled road projects from the previous administration, which faced funding challenges.

Additionally, Kindiki announced that new road projects are being initiated to facilitate the movement of people and goods, thereby supporting Kenya's economic transformation.

In earlier remarks, Kindiki urged leaders to unite and work towards the greater good of the nation.

He stressed that all Kenyans are one people and called for an end to divisions based on race, tribal affiliation, or social class. "Let's work together regardless of race, religion, or rank. Let us work for the citizens with dedication and focus on the unity of our Kenyan nation," the CS stated.

The Interior CS also encouraged support for the President's efforts to enhance the country's infrastructure.
