Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani graced the occasion adorned in the buibui, an attire tracing its roots to Arab origins, complemented by the traditional Kisutu, a garment commonly worn by Mijikenda women.

Stressing the need for cultural preservation, she expressed plans for constructing the Kwale Heritage and Cultural Centre, envisioned as the 'Bomas of Kwale' in Diani, to conserve diverse cultures, and historical documentation, and create employment opportunities.
Emphasising unity and the rejection of divisive tribal politics, Achani urged residents to embrace cultural tolerance and work collectively towards common goals.
Echoing this sentiment, Talent and Social Services Executive Francisca Kilonzo highlighted the rigorous selection process for participants, emphasizing the event's goal of fostering peace and unity through cultural preservation and talent development.
Additionally, Woman Representative Fatuma Masito underscored the role of cultural preservation in combating societal issues like teen pregnancies and early marriages, attributing the rise in gender-based violence (GBV) to erosion in cultural values.
