Kenya is set to host the Sixth General Assembly of the Association of African Public Services Commissions (AAPSCOMS) from November 6 to 8, 2024.
This event will take place at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, where Zambia will formally hand over the chairmanship and secretariat of AAPSCOMS to Kenya.
Preparations for the assembly are already underway, led by the Public Service Commission (PSC) with contributions from all Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices (CCIOs).
This year's conference theme, "Driving Public Service Delivery Transformation through Innovation and Technology," aims to promote one of AAPSCOMS' key objectives: transforming African public services to be more transparent, accountable, and responsive to citizens' needs. The goal is to enhance performance and service delivery for all citizens.
The event is expected to attract a diverse group of participants, including chairpersons and chief executive officers of CCIOs, along with delegates from various member states across Africa.
Approximately 100 international delegates from member commissions across Africa and 200 local delegates, including representatives from Kenya's Constitution Chapter 15 commissions, independent offices, and selected ministries and state departments, will also be in attendance.
Paul Famba, Secretary/CEO of the PSC, explained the importance of this conference for Kenya during a recent meeting of the conference's preparatory steering committee.
"Hundreds of delegates from across Africa will attend the AAPSCOMS conference, and this is an excellent opportunity for Kenya to show the continent and the world the milestones achieved as far as public service is concerned," he said.
The CEO encouraged government agencies to leverage this opportunity by highlighting their activities through exhibitions.
Kenya's Public Service Commission further formally invited ministries, state departments, and agencies to participate in these exhibitions.
"As a country, we have done well, leveraging technology to enhance service delivery. I therefore challenge all government agencies to show up in large numbers, book the exhibition booths, and make our country proud," Famba added.
